Walk thru by: Bunny Cates (that would be ME)
I posted a layout this morning over on my blog and SEVERAL people emailed wanting to know HOW I got that photo to pop so well…
What they saw was this

Paper is from Kim’s — Precious Angles Pink set. *altered*
The glitter frame is the freebie today, on my personal blog!
What they didn’t see was the photo straight off my camera. YUCK
So today’s walk thru will guide you through the basics steps to making those photos have a little WOW “pow”er. This walk thru is written for PAINT SHOP PRO, but you can do it also in Photoshop by finding your tools!
To start with pick yourself a photo to play with.
Since EVERY photo is different, I am not going to show you any tool settings, you will need to use what works best with the photo you are working on!
The first thing I like to do is get rid of the “grain” that a camera seems to add to a photo.
ADJUST>ADD/REMOVE NOISE>EDGE PRESERVING SMOOTH
This setting will depend on both the size of the photo, and how grainy it is. Just adjust the slider until it looks good to your eyes.
Now, lets duplicate the layer.
Now lets adjust the contrast. Every photo will be different and every person who thinks they know anything about touching up photos will have a different way of doing this. I DO NOT recommend the AUTOMATIC CONTRAST ADJUSTMENT. BLUCK. I like to either set the black white points, which is a little advanced, OR adjust the levels.
ADJUST> BRIGHTNESS/CONTRAST>LEVELS
Again, this will differ for every photograph. Just tweak on the sliders until you like what you see!
LAYERS>DUPLICATE
Set the layer to SCREEN and lower the opacity just a tad
LAYERS > MERGE VISIBLE
LAYERS>DUPLICATE
Set the layer to Soft light or Hard light depending on the look you want AND the photo, and lower the opacity just a tad
LAYERS > MERGE VISIBLE
With any luck you now have a LOVELY photo!!
