First Noel

Written by Karen on December 3, 2009 – 6:01 am

Hi,

Today I want to show you some new stuff I made with some new holiday kits here at DSO.

I really need to get goin’ on my Christmas cards or they won’t even be ready before Christmas.

For these I played with First Noel by Charlie’s Digiscraps. I love the warm colors and beautiful patterns in her new kit.

I then couldn’t resist to get Charlie’s new First Noel card templates as well.

Since Charlie is this month’s featured designer here at DSO, you can get the whole huge First Noel bundle that not only includes the kit and the templates, but also 6 glitter styles/sheets and a pack of ready made cards for incredible $ 2.50 at the moment!

With these beautiful templates I got my card designed and ready to print in no time. I got all the single parts onto one A4 sheet, printed it out and cut all of the pieces apart. I then glued the layers together with double sided tape (I think I already mentioned that I hate sticky glue fingers and glue everywhere but where it is supposed to be ;) ?), finished it off with a ribbon and ready made bow, glued the whole thing onto green cardstock (because I am lazy I always use ready made printer cards) and ,voilà, it’s ready and waiting to be written and sent.

To save some ink I cut a big rectangle out of the red paper before merging the layers,  because I only needed the edge to show behind the light paper. I kept considerably more than I actually needed, but that way I could still decide on a larger red frame after printing. You nee to know,  that sometimes my  cutter takes a life of its own so that the finished piece ends up being slightly or sometimes even considerably smaller than planned, lol.

If you don’t feel like cutting and pasting, other than digital I mean, then Charlie’s templates are perfect as well. Here is the same card with a sentiment added and then just printed as is. The only cutting involved was cutting the card out of the A4 sheet.

And then I still had some pictures of my daughter that went perfectly with the colors in Charlie’s kit.

Oh, and I have made another card using Loucee’s fun kit Snow Ho Ho again.

Cutting out the hat was a bit tricky, but so worth it, because that way I could put Mr. Snowman on top of the other layers including the ribbon, or what do you think?

That’s it for today. I am wishing you all a wonderful Christmas time. I’ll be busy baking some cookies this afternoon…with glitter frosting! :)

Hugs Karen
