Swoop down a few times to darken, then switch buttons and swoop a few to lighten…
the end effect is the illusion  that its BENDED around..

How to use textures in PSP…

Written by Bunny on September 2, 2007 – 11:14 pm

So you’ve gone and bought yourself some fabulous "textures" to create with.  You open them up and *SHOCK* they are JPG files.  How in the heck do you use those?  Your so used to overlays you have no clue, right?  You spoiled little naughty monkey you.  Let Mrs. B show you how she gets the MOST out of those texture files.

I’m going to walk you through getting the most out of those files.  Then at the end I’m going to give you a tip to help you organize and "streamline" your psp! woohoo!

If you do not have a texture file, too bad for you!
Oh, stop, I’m kidding you can download one RIGHT HERE.  (PERSONAL USE ONLY!)

Get the MOST out of Textures!

Once you have your JPG Texture file, I want you to paste it into 3 locations (redundant, I know.  Want to skip the triplicate files?  Jump down and read my TIP.)   Paste into your Textures folder, Patterns Folder, and Masks Folder.  All should be located somewhere in My Documents like:  \My Documents>My PSP Files

"Bunny, that’s so ridiculous.  WHY do I need it in 3 places?  Come on now!"
Dude, have I led you astray thus far?  NO…  So do what I’m telling you, k?
OMG, ok ok, THIS is why…
Look…

Placing it in your Textures allows you to use it as a texture.  (You can even stick patterns in here, and it will like EMBOSS them!  KEWL huh?)
So to see how it looks using it from the textures folder…
EFFECTS>TEXTURES> and choose your texture.

Looks real right?

Now if you want to use it as an overlay, and don’t want to have to keep finding the file, dragging it into PSP and copy and pasting… Just use it from you PATTERNS FILLS.

bsc-usingtextures-2

And lastly Using it as a mask.
THIS IS MY FAVORITE WAY TO GET UNIQUE COLORING!!!
Flood fill your bottom layer with a color say #0000c0
add a new layer and flood fill with another color like #ffc0ff
LAYERS>LOAD/SAVE MASK
and load the texture file.
PRETTY!!!

Well, there you have it.  3 very unique looks from one file!

Now for my TIP
If you do NOT want to have the same file on there 3 times, do what I did.  Set your file locations to point to one folder.  IE:  I put everything in my textures folder.  But in my preferences, I have my file locations all point to my textures folder.

Threadin it in ~> PSP….

Written by Bunny on August 29, 2007 – 11:17 pm

You guys…

Why do you make things so HARD?

I was talking to a friend of mine the other day, and I was walking her through, on the phone mind you, how I thread my ribbons through an eyelet.  “How do you do it?” she said  “yours look so real, after an hour I just give up.”  An HOUR?  ARE YOU KIDDING ME?  WHACKO! lol…  I told her how I did it and she about had a stroke right there on the phone.  I decided it would be my next tut for you guys.

So when I saw Kim’s post, I thought she done stole my idea!  But she didn’t!

For today’s Tutorial, I’m going to teach you the basic steps to making a ribbon look threaded though an Eyelet or Looper or ANYTHING!    To play along you will need a ribbon and an eyelet or loopster or something.  If you have nothing, scroll down and grab the freebie, then come back up and play along…

Ready? This tut will take us 3 minutes tops!

Threadin It in PSP (or PS)
tutorial © 2007 Bunny Cates

1

Paste your ribbon as a new layer on top of your eyelet.

Using selection Tool, cut off excess.
2

Select WARP BRUSH set to PUSH
(In PS this is the LIQUIFY TOOL)
3

Push in the corners to smooth off the edges.
4

Then Change from PUSH to CONTRACT
5

Run your brush over the edge, it will suck the ribbon in.
Small strokes, repeat until satisfied.
6

Now Using Your DARKEN/LIGHTEN TOOL
OPACITY to about 30-35
7

on the leftmost edging of your ribbon, darken it up.
Just do light strokes from top down,
kind of following the angle of the eyelet until satisfied…
Then do the same on the ribbon just RIGHT of where the Eyelet stops.
(this will give the effect of it being BENT and not flat.)
8

Thats it.  easy right?

For extra pop…
Do a little DARKEN on the EYELET UNDER the ribbon too!
If you need some tools to play along,
Grab some HERE.
